Gibson 2008 Les Paul Standard Plus Electric Guitar
Comfortable asymmetrical neck is Plek'd.
Crank up a 2008 Les Paul Standard Plus Electric Guitar and experience the power and performance that more than 40 years of craftsmanship and innovation can produce.

Pioneered and developed with the assistance of legendary jazz-pop guitarist Les Paul-one of the world's greatest musical and technological pioneers-the Gibson Les Paul has become the standard by which all electric guitars are judged. With fat, rich tone and incredible sustain, the Les Paul lends itself to every style and generation of music. From the sweetest jazz to the heaviest rock and metal, the Les Paul can do it all-it is one of the most powerful and versatile instruments of all time.

The 2008 Les Paul Standard Plus continues to alter - and inspire - the sounds of today's ever-changing musical landscapes. It features a hand-carved figured maple top with matched chambered mahogany back outlined with single-ply binding. The neck is crafted from a single piece of mahogany. Carefully glued into the neck cavity of the body, the neck functions as a single unit with the body. Its asymmetrical shape is the most comfortable neck offered on a Les Paul Standard.

The BurstBucker Pro humbuckers have Alnico V magnets with slightly mismatched windings to deliver an enhanced "Patent Applied For" tone with more bite and brilliance.

All Les Paul Standards will be Plek'd on Gibson's Plek machines, a computer controlled device which scans and dresses a guitar under actual playing conditions, strung and tuned to pitch. This is a major breakthrough since the Plek machine identifies precisely what needs to be done for perfect fretwork, executes this rapidly, and delivers perfect results on the instrument when restrung.

Gibson Reverse Explorer Electric Guitar Antique Walnut
Gibson USA turns the guitar world upside down again by introducing the limited edition Reverse Explorer.
The limited edition Reverse Explorer Gibson USA's Guitar of the Month for September 2008 is a guitar ready for the 21st century. Last year's Reverse Flying V triggered an unprecedented response from both players and collectors. Once again, the engineers at Gibson USA have flipped the body of one of their most iconic guitars, and the result is stunning.

The Reverse Explorer's one-piece mahogany body is now inverted so that the small horn is on the upper bass-side bout extending upward, while the larger horn is now positioned on the lower treble-side bout, pointing downward. Highlighting the unique body outline is a carbon fiber pickguard shaped like a lightning bolt, extending the entire length of the body. The neck is a hybrid between Gibson's standard '50s rounded contour and its '60s slim-taper profile, topped by a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with carbon fiber inlays at the fifth and 12th fret.

The Reverse Explorer also sports the rare, art deco-style Gibson logo found among old drawings belonging to Gibson President Ted McCarty. The headstock is a McCarty era-inspired shape, equipped with Steinberger Gearless Tuners for unparalleled tuning accuracy. In the neck position is Gibson's '57 Classic with a '57 Classic Plus in the bridge. The pole pieces for both pickups are concealed by pickup covers that are copper-plated and powder-coated, designed just for the Reverse Explorer. The rest of the guitar's hardware is gold-plated. The Reverse Explorer from Gibson USA comes only in an Antique Walnut finish.

Gibson Custom Custom ES-330L Electric Guitar
Experience the clarity, chime, and jangle of a fully hollowbody thinline electric with P-90 pickups.
The Gibson Custom ES-330L is a hollowbody electric guitar with stunning acoustic character that provides performers and songwriters with a very inspiring musical tool. The artisans at the Gibson Custom Shop have created an ES-330 guitar that is not a reissue, yet it has all the highly-desirable attributes of the original 1959 ES-330, such as period-correct 17° angled headstock, and black plastic pickup covers. Added to those are superior enhancements including a long neck profile, premium tulip button tuners, and a vintage period-correct 1-11/16" nut made from Corian that provides superior strength, durability, and musical sustain.

Introduced in 1959, the Gibson ES-330 was a revolution in the field of hollowbody electric guitars with its unique laminate top and back, top bracing, neck block, and tenon. The ES-330L has the same great pairing of features—dog-ear P90 pickups and hollowbody construction—as the Epiphone Casino guitars used by The Beatles to provide punch on recordings such as "Taxman" and "Paperback Writer," and most of the electric guitar tracks on Sgt. Pepper.

Gibson Custom Les Paul Axcess Standard Electric Guitar
The ultimate player's guitar with optimum playability, maximum access, and unparalleled tone.
The Gibson Les Paul Axcess Standard is an electric guitar that carries all the elegant styling, fluid body lines, and rocking attitude of a classic Les Paul Standard from the golden era of 1958 to '60. The Les Paul Axcess reveals a handful of upgrades upon closer examination — all modifications made in the name of maximum playability and versatility. The most noticeable addition is the Floyd Rose tailpiece, a unit optimized for anything from subtle vibrato wobbles to dramatic, rumbling divebombs. Partnered with an R4 locking nut, it also guarantees outstanding tuning stability and return-to-pitch accuracy.

While the Axcess guitar sports what looks from the front to be a traditional Les Paul neck joint, the neck heel and portions of the back and neck joint at the upper cutaway have been contoured to provide a "heelless" feel and an unimpeded reach right up to the 22nd fret. No more stretching against the traditional neck heel to achieve the upper-fret access that your lead style demands — the Axcess guitar gives you that legendary Les Paul playability all the way up the neck, and welcomes you to take it right over the top.

To further enhance playing comfort, this smoothly carved neck joint is joined by a "belly scarf" (a.k.a. ribcage contour) that allows the body of the guitar to hug closely to your own body in the playing position without digging in. Add to these contours the Les Paul Axcess guitar's slightly thinner body, made from weight-relieved mahogany (with carved maple top), and you've also got a Les Paul guitar that is refreshingly light, and a pure joy to play either strapped on or seated.

Beyond all these significant considerations for playing feel, the Les Paul Axcess Standard is also geared toward optimum tone, as you'd expect from any Gibson Custom Shop creation. Exposed-coil BurstBucker 1 and BurstBucker 2 pickups in the neck and bridge positions — the most accurate reproduction vintage-PAF-style humbucker pickups Gibson has ever offered ‐ yield everything from warm, fluid vocal tones to fat, sweet growl. An added push/pull switch on the treble tone knob provides coil splitting for accurate single-coil tones. The combination excels at everything from singing classic rock lead tones, to contemporary crunch, to extremes of twang and jangle. Even the pure-nickel wound .010 Gibson Vintage Strings the Axcess guitar ships with contribute toward its rich, textured voice.

Being a product of the Gibson Custom Shop, the Les Paul Axcess is a guitar built to the highest standards attainable, which include a final set-up and fret dressing by the computer-controlled PLEK System.

Gibson LP-295 Goldtop Electric Guitar
Combines the Les Paul's legendary characteristics with avant-garde features that keep it one step ahead of everything else.
Gibson USA's LP-295 Goldtop is Gibson's Guitar of the Month for April 2008 and sets the classic appointments of Gibson's renowned ES-295 onto the body and neck of the celebrated Les Paul. The standard Les Paul cutaway gives way to the wider Florentine cutaway normally found on such legendary Gibson models as the Byrdland, the ES-175, and the ES-295.

The LP-295's hand-painted, cream-colored pickguard with gold flowers is also styled after the ES-295, as are the split parallelogram inlays, and the chrome Bigsby tailpiece. Graphite nut and bridge saddles offer better string control when using the Bigsby. The guitar's body is solid mahogany with a maple top and single-ply cream binding, smoothed with Gibson's classic Goldtop finish. The headstock is also bound in single-ply cream binding and sports Gibson's traditional holly symbol.

The neck is the standard Les Paul mahogany neck with a '50s rounded profile and rosewood fingerboard. In the neck position, Gibson's '57 Classic pickup delivers warm, full tone with a balanced response, packing that classic Gibson PAF humbucker crunch. The '57 Classic Plus is the perfect bridge-position companion to the '57 Classic, inspired by the design of the original PAFs of the late 1950s and the early 1950s. The Gibson LP-295 is versatile enough for all styles of music and playing, and an admirable addition to Gibson's current lineup of special edition guitars.

Gibson Custom Inspired By Dave Grohl DG-335 Electric Guitar
A versatile semi-hollow guitar inspired by the Foo Fighters' frontman
With a set mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard, diamond soundholes and Burstbucker pickups, this Inspired By Dave Grohl DG-335 guitar is perfect for Foo Fighters fans or anyone who wants the versatility of a semi-hollow electric. Hard rock, classic, pop, swing, billy styles and more are all fair game with this beauty. Built around the comfortably-sized ES-335 body, you're likely to find yourself using this axe for just about everything you play. The '50s neck shape is easy on your hand whether you're playing chords or lead, and the combination of Grover tuners and the fixed bridge keep tuning time to a minimum.

This electric guitar is inspired by Grohl's much loved Trini Lopez signature model. The model, created by the artisans at the Gibson Custom Shop with the input of Grohl himself, will provide rock fans a chance to channel the Foo Fighters' renowned lead singer.

Grohl has always been a long-time fan of the Trini Lopez signature model guitar that Gibson built from 1964-1971. The Trini Lopez model was a striking take on Gibson's classic ES-335 semi-hollow body guitar which is a hybrid between a solidbody and a hollowbody. Grohl has a particular love for the Trini Lopez in a rare Pelham Blue color that was used by the Gibson Custom Shop in producing this limited model.

Dave Grohl's Inspired By DG-335 guitar has the classic Firebird-style headstock with six-on-a-side tuners set into an ES-335 style semi-hollow body. The body of the guitar has stylish diamond f-holes and a double cutaway design. The inlays on the rosewood fretboard are acrylic split diamond which is a unique feature that remains from the original Trini Lopez model. Grohl's taste is even expressed through the pickups which are BurstBucker 1 in the neck and BurstBucker 2 in the bridge. These pickups are within the original Patent Applied For humbucking spec, known for their ability to create clean and articulate distortion and responsible for helping to deliver the amazing tones that Grohl has become famous for while fronting the ever popular Foo Fighters.

Gibson Commemorative 50th Anniversary Explorer Electric Guitar Brimstone
Combines the time-tested elements of the original with several modern appointments worthy of today's demanding players.
The world wasn't quite ready for the Gibson Explorer in 1958, as evidenced by production numbers that strained to meet 100 units. Now 50 years later those same models are some of the most prized collectible guitars in the world, and Gibson USA honors the legacy of this legendary electric guitar by introducing the 50-Year Commemorative Gibson Explorer.

The retro-style, solid mahogany body of this Guitar of the Month for October 2008 is as angular and asymmetrical today as it was the first day it left Gibson's Kalamazoo plant in 1958. Added, however, is a AA figured maple top with beveled edges, and a hotter-than-hell Brimstone Burst finish all exclusive features of this limited edition Explorer guitar. The headstock's unique Gibson logo was recently found in a warehouse, among some old drawings belonging to Gibson President Ted McCarty.

The neck is also one-piece mahogany with Gibson's traditional '50s rounded profile, topped by a 22-fret ebony fingerboard with pearl split-block inlays and single-ply binding. The guitar is powered by two Gibson '57 Classic pickups, made to the same exact specs as the original PAFs of the late 1950s and early 1960s, and packing that unmistakable Gibson PAF humbucker crunch. Other select features on the Gibson Explorer include gold fret wire and hardware, Steinberger Gearless tuners, and a custom Guitar of the Month case from Gibson USA.

Gibson Longhorn Double Cutaway Electric Guitar Trans Blue
Limited edition sports a unique body style, special finish, and separate pickup outputs.
Gibson USA's Guitar of the Month for November 2008, the Longhorn Double-cutaway in Trans Blue, has a body design that consists of slightly extended, asymmetrical cutaways on a solid piece of mahogany topped with an AA figured maple top.

White three-ply binding around the body and a traditional headstock add both beauty and protection to this electric guitar. And the improvements don't end there. A pair of EMG-85 active humbuckers deliver tone, power, and performance for any style of music, while the L.R. Baggs electronics offer separate outputs for both the piezo and the humbuckers. This gives players the option of either blending the two sounds or using them individually, thus allowing guitarists all types of sonic possibilities.

The neck is one-piece mahogany with Gibson's traditional '50s rounded profile, topped by an ebony fingerboard with white acrylic small-block fretboard inlays created especially for the Longhorn. Also in keeping with tradition is the headstock's flowerpot inlay, which dates back to the early 1900s and several of Gibson's historic mandolins and archtops. The Gibson USA Longhorn guitar is available only in Trans Blue finish.

Gibson Les Paul Traditional Electric Guitar
The legend continues.
The Les Paul Traditional Electric Guitar got its name because Gibson gave it all the traditional features you expect from a Les Paul: mahogany body and set neck with rounded '50s profile, maple top, and a pair of Gibson's '57 Classic humbucker pickups. One significant, yet not-so-traditional improvement-the neck has been Plek'd on Gibson's Plek machine. The neck and frets are analyzed by a computer-controlled robot and then the frets are filed to an accuracy of a hundredth of a millimeter for optimal action and intonation without string buzzing.
